Toyota Unveils 2030 Battery Strategy: 1.5 Trillion Yen And 70 Production Lines Will Be Invested

Toyota unveiled its long-term battery strategy. By 2030, Toyota expects to spend about 1.5 trillion yen on research and development of power batteries and improving the battery supply chain. Through the establishment of research and development and supply system, Toyota will continue to make efforts in the field of hybrid and pure electric vehicles. About Y1, 000bn of the Y1, 500bn total will be spent on expanding battery capacity, including expanding battery production lines to 70. If pure electric cars take-off faster than expected, Toyota will increase the annual battery capacity to more than 200GWh from 180GWh previously expected.
