The Design Of Tube And Steel Wire Of Car Seat Frame

A car seat is an important part of the car interior, and the seat frame is the main structure of the seat. The main raw material of seat frames are steel pipes and steel wires, in this article we will share some design attention of this two parts.

 

1、Steel pipe classification

According to the manufacturing process, steel pipe is divided into seamless steel pipe and welded steel pipe. The welded steel pipe is commonly used on the frame of the car seat, and there is a straight welding joint on the steel pipe.


2. Common processing methods for steel pipe

2.1 Bending process:

Bending refers to the bending process of the tube on the vertical or horizontal bending machine by using the bending die, clamping block, pressing block, wrinkle prevention block, mandrel, and other devices.

2.2 Compression bending
The bending process is a processing method that puts the steel tube on the pendulum block and applies transverse pressure to the tube by using the die to achieve the purpose of bending and forming.

2.3 Push bending

The push bending process refers to the tube forming method of pushing and bending by using a die on a press machine along the tube axial pressure.

2.4 Rolling bending

Rolling and bending process refers to the method of forming tube by using three driving roller wheels on rolling and bending machine. Roll bending is only suitable for thick wall pipe requiring large radius of curvature.

3. Structural dimension limitation of pipe parts

3.1 Minimum bending radius

The minimum bending radius of pipe parts is as shown in the figure, generally more than 2 times the outer diameter of steel pipe.

3.2 Length of the straight section

If in the same plane, the adjacent bending distance is 1.5 times of tube diameter; If not in the same plane, the spacing is 2 times the tube diameter. The end of the pipe should be at least 1.5 times of the pipe diameter.

3.3 The minimum punching size of a round pipe depends on the wall thickness. The minimum is 3 times wall thickness and 5 times wall thickness is recommended.

3.4 The minimum hole diameter of the flattening area is three times the thickness of the flattening area (for example: the wall thickness is 1.5mm, the thickness of the flattening area is 3.0mm, then the minimum hole diameter is 9mm).

3.5 The maximum local pressing depth of the backrest pipe is 0.5 times of the pipe diameter.

3.6 Clearance of overlap area is 0.5-1.0mm, and minimum welding space size is 3mm.

4. Steel wire parts design process requirements

1. Recommended length of steel wire:

L≤1000mm, bending quantity: ≤10, too long or too much bending on steel wire will increase the manufacturing cost.

 

2, bending spacing

1) If in the same plane, the minimum spacing is 1 times the diameter of the steel wire;

2) If not in the same plane, the minimum spacing is 1.5 times the diameter of the wire.

3. All bending radii should be unified as far as possible to reduce the cost, the minimum internal bending radius should be greater than or equal to the diameter of the steel wire.

4. Avoid end-to-end contact structure, if the structure needs, the distance of opening size should be≥25mm.
