SK Innovation Of South Korea: They Are Considering Moving Its Battery Business Out Of The US, Possibly To Europe Or China
South Korea's SK Innovation said on Tuesday that it was considering all options, including pulling its battery business out of the United States, if President Joe Biden does not overturn a ruling by the U.S. International Trade Commission by April 11. A SK Innovation spokesman said the company had consulted experts on the matter. "We are considering the option of moving battery production from the US to Europe or China, which is expected to cost tens of billions of won," he said. LG Energy Solutions and SK Innovation, locked in a bitter battle over a battery lawsuit, are once again at loggerheads over plans to build a battery factory for LG's US electric cars. The ITC issued a final opinion earlier this month, finding that SK had violated LG's trade secrets and banning SK from exporting to the US for the next 10 years.
