CBIES AUTOMOTIVE|Bumper, Bumper Beam, Is It Really Clear

Nov 02, 2022

CBIES, as a professional auto parts export company, will explain the difference between the two and their roles professionally.

First, let's understand what exactly the two things are

 A.Bumper

A bumper is an important safety device to absorb and moderate external impact and protect the front and rear of the body. General cars basically have bumpers, distributed in the front and rear front, mostly made of plastic, resin, and other materials with high elasticity, especially those produced by the factory containing silk, etc. Bumpers are mainly used to slow down the impact of minor collisions on the car, even if broken is relatively easy to replace.

Many years ago, the front and rear bumpers are mainly metal materials, with a thickness of more than 3 mm steel plate stamped into a U-shaped channel steel, surface treatment chromium-plated, riveted or welded together with the longitudinal beam of the frame, and the body has a large gap, as if it is an additional part looks very unattractive.

Nowadays, the front and rear bumpers are made of plastic, which people call plastic bumpers.

Why are plastic bumpers used nowadays?

It can control the manufacturing cost and facilitate the design and production

The production of automobiles has been molded, and in addition to the body will use high-strength materials, many parts will be as far as possible using engineering plastics. The front and rear bumpers are typical representatives, and the exterior body parts, such as wings, may also use plastic and other lightweight materials.

b. Material bumper energy absorption to ensure the safety of pedestrians as far as possible

Plastic bumpers are more flexible than metal due to the material and have better impact absorption capabilities. Reduce the damage caused by small collisions!

C. Plastic bumper has better anti-corrosion effect

For car bodies, we all know that metal easily rusts when it meets water and air, which not only affects the appearance but also poses certain safety risks. But the car bumper, despite being a more easily bumped part of daily driving, plastic has a good anti-corrosion, we do not need to worry about this.

B.Car crash beam

The crash beam is a device used to absorb collision energy when the vehicle is collided, consisting of the main beam, an energy-absorbing box, and a mounting plate connected to the car. The main beam and the energy-absorbing box can effectively absorb collision energy when a low-speed collision occurs in the vehicle, minimizing the damage of the impact force on the longitudinal beam of the body, and by doing so, it plays its role in protecting the vehicle.

More and more manufacturers are now putting side door bumpers into the side doors of their vehicles. Side door bumpers, also called door bumpers, are one of the main products of CBIES, which has deep expertise in producing high-quality welded and seamless tubes. Tailor-made tubes are produced according to the customer's needs and checked with modern control equipment. A crash bar is a cross beam added to the internal structure of a door to strengthen the side of the vehicle. Based on the probability of side impact, the door bumper acts as additional energy-absorbing protection that reduces the forces that occupants may experience from the outside. Door impact beams have proven to be very effective in protecting the vehicle when it strikes a fixed object (e.g., a tree). Especially in low-speed collisions, cars without crash beams can suffer direct damage and destroy interior parts.

The above preliminary introduction of bumper bars and crash beams, in fact, is very good to understand.

Bumper bars are placed on the outermost side of the front and rear of the vehicle to play a minor rubbing, and reduce injury to pedestrians, simple structure and easy to replace, and can be purchased and installed by themselves.

The bumper is used to strengthen the structure of the vehicle, thus improving the resistance to side impact, in order to enhance the safety of the side. To protect the occupants of the vehicle and protect the engine and other major components. The front and rear crash beams of a car, generally we are lined up behind the bumper, and the side crash beams are generally arranged inside the door structure.
