Car Production in The UK Fell 37.6 Percent in July From A Year Earlier, Hit By Both The Pandemic And A Chip Shortage

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) said on Thursday that just 53,438 cars were made in The UK in July, down 38 percent from a year earlier and the is the lowest Level of July production since 1956.
Mike Hawes, chief executive of the UK Motor Manufacturers and Dealers Association, said: "While the impact will diminish with the change in self-segregation rules, the global semiconductor shortage shows little sign of abating."
