Apple Will Further Develop CarPlay, Allowing The IPhone To Control More Car Functions

Apple's CarPlay system is being used by millions of drivers to control music, get directions and make and receive calls, according to foreign media reports, helping to expand apple's reach in the automotive sector. 

It is understood that Apple is working on technology that can access features such as air-conditioning systems, speedometers, radios and seats. The initiative, known internally as IronHeart, is still in its early stages and requires collaboration with car manufacturers.

IronHeart would be Apple's biggest move into the car market since CarPlay was launched in 2014, but it is unlikely to be welcomed by carmakers, who may be reluctant to cede control of key features to Apple. Back in 2019, Apple released CarKey, which can unlock a car directly with an iPhone or Apple Watch, but it only works on some BMW models.
